David Tollmann
Art begins where programmed perception ends; only those who forget what something looks like and recreate it can create art.
I PAINT
BECAUSE IT
IS MY LIFE

is the son of the artist Markus Tollmann and the grandson of the art professor and renowned artist Günter Tollmann and is therefore a third generation artist.
HIS LIFE
He was born in Sulingen in 1988. As a young man, he is looking for experience in culinary, catering and event management.
He begins training as a chef with a well-known Hanover star chef – but he could not escape his calling.
David Tollmann –
an artist and his biography
He presents his complex world of ideas in large-format and very colorful works. The effects of the works are intense and emotionally overwhelming – sometimes full of profound metaphors, far removed from the everyday life of the viewer.
David Tollmann, born in 1988 in the tranquil Lower Saxony town of Sulingen and raised in Nienburg an der Weser, is undoubtedly an extraordinary talent who plays an outstanding role in the art scene. As a descendant of an artistic dynasty steeped in the creative spirit across generations, Tollmann has found his own unique voice as a modern artist, defined by a distinctive fusion of expression, color and emotion. David Tollmann seems to have been born with an artistic soul.
As the son of the renowned artist Markus Tollmann and grandson of the important painter and art professor Günter Tollmann, he was deeply immersed in the art world from his childhood. Through family connections to artists such as Joseph Beuys, Pablo Picasso, Yves Klein, Niki de Saint Phalle and Günther Uecker, he grew up in an atmosphere of creative exchange and inspiring influences. He spent his childhood in the home of his stepfather Joachim Henne, who had become a real father to him. He says he taught David how to live a decent life and raised him as his own son. Here, too, he was always surrounded by culture and art. His artistic journey began in his childhood, but not directly. After years of painting, working in the catering industry and training to be a chef, he dared to change careers and immersed himself completely in the world of art in 2014.
